Design Philosophy

Ellerslie

Project Type: Display Site - Awards

The Site:  The Mercedes Benz Design Marquee - Ellerslie 2003

The Brief:  To interpret the theme of 'Art in the Landscape' in a 5m x 5m courtard site.

The Solution:  Show sites are fun as there is no limit to what you can dream up, plan and create.  Our site was based on the fundamental principals of any good artwork, being compostion, balance, form, texture and contrast.

We were presented with a Silver Award for this site.

Client Testimonial

'Lee Cloke and Helen Boyes have used materials in an innovative way to produce a clean urban feel.  The cube seats are made from hypertufa sanded back and sealed with silicon spray for a marble like finish and the normally flat groundcover Sedum 'Gold Mound' has been grown in tubes of chicken wire lined with sphagnum moss to produce a quirky slant on the traditional hanging basket idea'  - Inspiration from the Ellerslie Flower Show pg 90

'A textural tapestry where the soul can thrive' is how Lee Cloke and Helen Boyes described their Ellerslie silver award winning courtyard. - Weekend Gardener Issue 136
