General Information
Bearded Iris are so fleatingly beautiful both in leaf and flower that every year it is such a thrill to see the first of them bloom. Features: Sword shaped, broad, blue green leaves that die back. Large flowers with a prominent 'beard' of hairs. It is near impossible to believe such a vast aray of flower colours exist. Uses: Mass planted where both the leaf and flower can be appreciated. Behind a box hedge for a formal garden or in loose drifts for informality. Combinations: With Carpet Roses of any colour, Trachelospermum jasminoides, complimentary coloured annuals. Care: Mulch in spring with a low nitrogen based mulch taking care not to completely cover the rhizomes. Protect from slugs and snails.
